Cequence integrates with F5’s High Speed Logging (HSL) solution, providing another zero-latency passive deployment option. This integration enables Cequence to receive and process network traffic directly from the F5 appliance in order to discover and assess APIs and identify attacks.

One of the Cequence Unified API Protection platform’s strengths from a customer perspective is its flexible deployment options. Not only can customers choose from SaaS, on-premises, or hybrid deployments to match their existing architecture, but they can also deploy Cequence inline or passively. Inline deployment provides options for native threat mitigation such as logging, deception, and blocking, while a passive deployment provides an exceptionally quick way to get up and running and discover all APIs, their associated security risks, and active security threats.

F5 High Speed Logging

The F5 BIG-IP platform typically has visibility into all application traffic, making it an ideal way to securely share traffic with Cequence for analysis. The integration is performed through a Cequence Bridge which connects the F5 deployment to the Cequence Unified API Protection platform. The Cequence Bridge reads the TLS-encrypted F5 HSL traffic and transforms it for use in the Cequence platform, where APIs are discovered and assessed for compliance and sensitive data exposure, and attacks can be identified. Cequence natively integrates with the F5 BIG-IP platform and supports mutual TLS authentication, so no further TLS termination is required.

Benefits of leveraging the F5 HSL integration for a Cequence deployment include:

  • Leveraging native F5 HSL avoids any latency or performance implications
  • Native integration with F5 BIG-IP platform including support for mutual TLS authentication ensures no additional TLS termination is required
  • No adverse impact to end user experience
  • Low-friction way for organizations to deploy Cequence in F5 environments

In addition to the High Speed Logging integration, Cequence natively integrates with the F5 BIG-IP platform to route application traffic to a passive or inline Cequence deployment for API discovery and risk analysis. For more information, see the integration guide.
